[ARCHIVED] Bridge Street widening project update: Oct. 18, 2024

Working hours will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

New traffic impacts:

  • Starting mid-morning on Thursday, October 17, the intersection of Sierra Street and Bridge Street will have daily closures for up to one week. Cars will be detoured west on Estrella or Huerfano Street and north on Telluride Street to turn onto Bridge Street. See the detour map below for more detailed navigation instructions. Sierra Street will reopen outside of working hours, including for school drop-off and pick-up times, to avoid congestion in the neighborhood.

Continuing traffic impacts:

  • Permanent traffic realignments will continue on Bridge Street between 22nd and 42nd Avenue. Crews will be milling the median on Bridge Street for the next month which will shift traffic to the outside of both east and westbound lanes. One lane of through-travel will remain open in either direction, but please be aware of these reconfigurations when navigating the construction zone. There will be designated turn areas for business access, with some temporary restrictions throughout the duration of work. At least one entry point will remain open for all businesses and residents along Bridge Street.
  • Crews are continuing waterline operations at the 40th Avenue and Bridge Street intersection with minimal impacts to the traveling public. All turning access will remain open as normal.
  • Village Hill Drive and Firehouse Road have shifted to a permanent right-in, right-out only turn configuration. This permanent configuration is a part of the project’s overall goal of reducing traffic and enhancing the safety of accident-prone turning areas.
  • The west access point to the 27J HR building is closed. Please utilize the eastern driveway off of Bridge Street to get in and out of the facility.
  • Additional temporary localized closures may take place throughout the project corridor for utility operations.
  • Speed limit reductions are in place within the project zone. Additional traffic enforcement will be patrolling the construction zone to ensure the safety of the project team and traveling public.
  • Trucks and heavy equipment will continue to enter and exit the roadway within the project zone, so drivers are encouraged to slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and leave plenty of space in between vehicles. Please be mindful and exercise extreme caution when traveling through construction areas.

All schedules are subject to change based on weather and material availability.
