Form of Government
The City of Brighton, Colorado was incorporated in July of 1887 and became a home-rule city in 2000. The city has a Council-Manager form of government.
Under this form of government, the elected City Council sets the policies for the operation of government. The administrative responsibility of the city rests with the City Manager who is appointed by City Council.
City council adopts the budget (PDF) each October which provides the budget for the coming January to December fiscal year.
