Recreation Center Policies

General Policies

The following guidelines are intended to provide guidance while using the Brighton Recreation Center. The City of Brighton expects reasonable and appropriate behavior from those who visit and use the facilities; additional policies will be enforced as needed.

Our Recreation Staff is always available to help you if you have any problems or questions. All participants must check in at the front desk before entering the facility.

Due to classes or other Center programs, not all areas of the Recreation Center may be available at all times. Please check with the front desk before paying daily fees. Changes may occur in the recreation schedule without notice. Cash refunds cannot be given.

Please be aware of and follow all posted center rules & guidelines. Repeated failure to adhere to Recreation Center policies may result in expulsion from the facility.

Please dress appropriately when in the center. Shoes & shirts are required at all times (except in the pool). Non-marking shoes are required in the gym, racquetball courts.

For safety reasons, age restrictions have been established for various areas of the Center:

Children 7 years and under need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 16 years or up to be at the facility and must be directly supervised at all times, unless participating in a Recreation Center program.

Aquatics:

Children ages 6 and under need to be accompanied within arms’ reach by a parent or guardian aged 16 years or up when in the pool. Children 7 years of age need to have supervision by a parent or guardian aged 16 years or up from the pool deck.

Fitness:

Group exercise classes, cardio equipment, weight machines & free weights: Youth 12 to 14 years old may use the Fitness areas if they have completed the Jr. Weight training class, have their Jr. Weight Training card with them & an accompanying adult in the same room.Youth, ages 15 years and up may use the Fitness Center.

Track:

Youth ages 10 to 14 years of age may use the track with supervision by a guardian 18 years or older on Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Racquetball courts:

Youth younger than 15 years of age must be accompanied by a guardian 18 years or older. Players 17 years and younger must wear protective eyewear. Players 18 years and older are strongly encouraged to wear protective eyewear.
