[ARCHIVED] Tree Lighting Ceremony and Festival of Lights Parade coming December 2 and 9

Back-to-back holiday weekend celebrations will be coming to Brighton with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 2, and the Festival of Lights Parade on Saturday, Dec. 9.

The Tree Lighting festivities will take place from 1-6 p.m. at Founders Plaza (5 S. Main Street), including the return of a Winter Market. The market will feature unique artists, crafters and artisan food vendors. Vendor applications will be accepted online until Friday, November 24.

Other activities prior to the Tree Lighting include pictures with Santa from 2-4:30 p.m., free face painting, and the Teddy Bear & Friends Tree. The Other Reindeer Carolers will be performing on the FNBO stage from 4-6 p.m. on S. Main Street in front of Founders Plaza. The Other Reindeer Carolers will help City Council count down as the Christmas Tree is lit at 5 p.m. Thank you to tree sponsor United Power. Learn more about the Tree Lighting here.

On Dec. 9, the City of Brighton will present the 28th Annual Festival of Lights Parade starting at 5 p.m. downtown. The nighttime light parade is themed “A Hometown Holiday Tradition.” If you’d like to submit a parade entry, visit Brighton’s Festival of Lights Parade webpage.

Warm up for the parade at Brighton City Museum, which will hold a Festival of Lights Holiday Open House from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. This free event will feature Victorian Carolers, photos with the Grinch, holiday crafts such as popcorn strings, paper chains and felt gingerbread men, and hot cocoa with cookies.

The deadline for parade entries is Friday, Nov. 24. For information on the parade route and more, visit the Festival of Lights webpage.
