The City of Brighton Office of Emergency Management will host its annual Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class September 16-17 and Sept. 23 in correlation with emergency preparedness month. The three-day class will be free to attend.
This three-day class is approximately 24 hours of hands-on training for individuals to learn more in-depth skills to be self-sufficient prior to, during, and after a disaster occurs. Individuals will learn skills in team building, disaster psychology, terrorism, fire safety, disaster medical, and light search and rescue. This class will end with a simulated disaster exercise to allow participants to put their newly-acquired skills to use. Upon completion of all units and participation in the exercise, attendees will receive a backpack with initial supplies to get them started with their individual planning efforts.
