The City of Brighton has relaunched its popular 50/50 Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter Replacement Program for 2025. Designed to assist property owners with the cost of concrete repairs, the program covers 50 percent of the replacement cost for eligible sidewalk, curb and gutter improvements, with the remaining half paid by the homeowner.
Per Section 12-8-20 of the City of Brighton Municipal Code, maintenance and repairs to sidewalks, curbs and gutters are the responsibility of the property owner or tenant abutting the structure. In addition, all sidewalk replacements must meet City of Brighton standards and be installed by a licensed, insured, and bonded contractor hired by the property owner.
Recognizing that concrete repairs can be an unexpected financial burden, the City launched the 50/50 program to ease this obligation. The program not only provides financial support but also streamlines the process by managing the contractor selection, ensuring homeowners work with a qualified professional.
The program was successfully implemented at more than a dozen locations last year. It will continue in 2025 on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available.
Please note:
The program does not cover minor cracks, driveway replacements, or any concrete repairs within private property.
Applications received in the fall or winter will be scheduled for work in the following construction season.
