[ARCHIVED] Upcoming Bridge Street Closure: May 17-20

Weekend Closure of Bridge Street:

Bridge Street will be closed starting Friday morning from from 27th Avenue to Telluride Street. This closure will remain in place for 24 hours a day through the weekend, reopening on Monday, May 20.

The closure is needed for large equipment usage and deep excavations to install a storm pipe across the roadway. It is not safe for the traveling public or the crews to allow traffic to flow through the area during this time. Work will take place over the weekend to reduce impacts to the community when the roadway is less traveled.

The project team recommends avoiding travel on Bridge Street over the weekend, using Bromley Lane from Telluride Street to 27th Avenue to work around the closure. There will be uniformed traffic control officers guiding traffic at each side of the closed section of roadway. Please see the map below for further navigation details.

Residents at Eastgate Village and within the closure area will be given access to enter and exit their homes with assistance from crew members throughout the closure. Access will only be open from the west end of the closure at 27th Avenue traveling east.

Bus routes within the closed area will not be open over the weekend. Riders are encouraged to utilize the bus stops on either end of the closure.

Week of May 20 Traffic Impacts:

After the weekend’s full closure, the project’s regular traffic realignment will continue on Bridge Street from 22nd Avenue to 40th Avenue. Crews will resume storm sewer work, as well as grading and paving the roadway heading east on the north side of Bridge Street. A through-lane of travel will be open in either direction throughout the week.

For drivers traveling westbound on Bridge Street, there will be no left turns onto 27th Avenue. Drivers are encouraged to continue west to make a lefthand turn at 22nd Avenue.

Speed limit reductions are in place within the project zone. Additional traffic enforcement will be patrolling the construction zone to ensure the safety of the project team and traveling public.

Trucks and heavy equipment will continue to enter and exit the roadway within the project zone, so drivers are encouraged to slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and leave plenty of space in between vehicles. Please be mindful and exercise extreme caution when traveling through construction areas.

All schedules are subject to change based on weather and material availability.
