The City of Brighton has launched an interactive online “Cone Zone Map” to help keep the public informed about construction and other hazards currently impacting public streets. The overhead map of the City of Brighton shows a list of current closures, detours and hazards, while also offering zoom and search features that enable users to browse by location.
Individual construction projects and hazards list three categories of information:
The map’s legend uses a color-coded graphic system to show the specific ways in which traffic is impacted by a particular project or hazard:
Red circle split by a white line: Roadblock
Dotted green line: Detour
Red line with arrows at both ends: Full closure in both directions
Orange line with arrows at both ends: Partial closure in both directions
Yellow line with arrows at both ends: Alternating traffic pattern in both directions
Red line with an arrow at one end: Full closure in one direction
Orange line with an arrow at one end: Partial closure in one direction
Yellow line with an arrow at one end: Alternating traffic pattern in one direction
Additionally, the legend includes the ways in which the map visually represents other information, including street classes such as interstates, major streets, minor streets, ramps and more.
The Cone Zone Map will be updated in real time as new projects begin and others are completed. Closures posted to the map will be shared with commercial mapping services such as Google Maps and Apple Maps.
