[ARCHIVED] City announces winners of third annual Name That Snowplow Contest

After a flurry of entries, the City of Brighton is pleased to announce the nine winners of the city’s third annual Name That Snowplow contest. The winning submissions will name each of the nine snowplows for the 2023-2024 snow season.

The winning names and students:

  • Scoopy-Doo – Kara Neeley, Second Grader at Northeast Elementary
  • Spongebob SnowPants – Joshua Kraft, Fifth Grader at Bromley East Charter
  • Frozen Sprinkles Meltalicious – Kimberly Yepez, Kindergartener at Southeast Elementary
  • Brighton Thaw Enforcement – Landon Tryon, First Grader at Padilla Elementary
  • No More Mr. Ice Guy – Isaiah Greer, Third Grader at Brantner Elementary
  • The Implowder - Cesar Vasquez, Fourth Grader at Northeast Elementary
  • Plowchicka Plowplow - Cruz Vasquez, First Grader at Northeast Elementary
  • Betty WhiteOut – Skylar Beery, First Grader at Bromley East Charter
  • Melton John – Rhett Kaiser, Fifth Grader at Bromley East Charter

“What a great round of names! We had a great time talking through them, and the guys on the snowplow crew were already choosing their favorites before we started,” said Ward 4 Council Member Peter Padilla, who served as one of the contest’s judges. “While I’m disappointed that my own entry (icy come, icy go) was not accepted, I am excited to see Melton John singing ‘goodbye, slippery road’ when it clears the path this winter. Great job, kids!”

The winners will be recognized by the City Council at the December 5 City Council meeting. The winners will also be featured in a float at the 28th Annual Festival of Lights Parade on Dec. 9.
