The City of Brighton has successfully addressed and reduced the running annual average concentration of Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) in the public drinking water system and returned to compliance with State standards. 

On May 20, the City Utilities Department distributed a letter notifying customers the City had violated a State of Colorado drinking water standard. This violation was an exceedance of the maximum contaminant level (MCL) for TTHM in the City's water distribution system. The City of Brighton and the Utilities Department took immediate action to address the issue and test results of the City’s drinking water received Aug. 3 show running annual average TTHM levels below the MCL.

The City of Brighton and the Utilities Department will continue to take steps to reduce the likelihood of future violations related to drinking water standards.
