The municipal service center broke ground in June 2023 and opened in February 2025. It accommodates staff from several departments, including fleet, parks and open space, public works and utilities, all of which previously operated in separate, aging facilities. The Brighton Police Department also has a substation housed at the center. The facility was named the Michael Woodruff Municipal Service Center in honor of the city’s former director of public works, who passed away in October 2023 following a valiant battle with cancer.
“This award is a testament to the teamwork and vision that went into creating a facility designed to serve Brighton for decades to come,” said Patrick Rome, director of facilities and fleet for the City of Brighton.
