An arrest has been made in the homicide investigation stemming from a deadly stabbing that occurred on May 15th in the 3000 block of Bridge St.
Last week, Brighton Police Detectives presented the case to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney accepted the case and issued an arrest warrant on the charge of 1st Degree Murder for 52-year-old Johnny Jose Moreno.
Moreno was arrested early Friday morning, May 23, 2025, by officers from the Aurora Police Department.
Chief Domenico said, “Acts of violence like this have no place in our community. We extend our sympathies to the victim’s family. We are grateful for the dedication and commitment of our investigations team, along with our partners with Aurora Police Department in safely taking this suspect into custody.”
The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed offense(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
