[ARCHIVED] Brighton Police investigate fatal auto-pedestrian crash

The Brighton Police Department Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred on Oct. 8, just before 5 a.m.

Brighton Police officers were dispatched to the frontage road on the west side of Interstate 76, between Bromley Lane and Bridge Street, after a caller reported striking a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult male in the roadway with severe injuries. The initial investigation revealed the male was walking before being struck by the reporting party’s Chevrolet Silverado. The driver, a 38-year-old male, pulled over to call the police and remained on scene. He was uninjured, cooperative, and showed no signs of impairment.

The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld pending positive identification by the coroner’s office and notification of next of kin. Anyone who has additional information is asked to call the Brighton Police Department tip line at 303-655-8740.

The Brighton Police Department TSU reminds pedestrians to wear light or reflective clothing, walk as far from traffic as possible if there is no sidewalk, and use well-lit areas when crossing roads without crosswalks or intersections. Pedestrians should also avoid alcohol and drugs, as they impair judgment and abilities.
