Brighton Police Department wants to assure the community that there is no ongoing threat to students or the public after a stabbing occurred today at Brighton High School. As a result of Brighton Police Department's ongoing criminal investigation, one juvenile was arrested, processed, and released pending charges. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.
On Jan. 26 around 10:30 a.m. school security received a report from a student within the school who had a significant injury to their leg. The Brighton Police School Resource Officer was then notified of the incident and requested emergency medical response. The student was transported to the hospital and treated.
Upon the initial investigation, the suspect, who is also a student, was taken into custody at the school. Currently, Brighton Police Department is investigating the origins of the knife that was used and the details regarding how the incident unfolded.
