[ARCHIVED] Brighton Police Department now offering online reporting

Brighton Police Department has launched an online reporting system along with a newly updated website at www.brightonco.gov/police.The online reporting system allows community members to submit a report directly to the police department from their smartphone or computer. It can be used to report any of the following incidents:

  • Criminal tampering
  • Identity theft
  • Lost property
  • Supplemental property report
  • Supplemental report
  • Theft
  • Theft from vehicle
  • Unauthorized credit card use
  • Vandalism with criminal mischief

All cases filed using the online reporting system will be reviewed by a police sergeant. Upon review, if further investigation is needed, a reporting party may be contacted. This tool can only be used when the incident is not an emergency, no one was injured, there are no known suspects, and there is no physical evidence. All incidents that do not meet this criteria should be reported by calling our non-emergency line at 303-288-1535. Emergencies should always be reported by calling 911.

“Our goal with providing this tool is to make it easier, more efficient and more convenient for community members to report a crime,” said Patrol Commander Monce Portillo. “This tool also allows our officers to focus their attention on higher priority crimes and quality of life of concerns.” Learn more about our online reporting system at www.brightonco.gov/2886/File-a-Report.

The newly updated website, which remains part of the City of Brighton’s site, has been live for several months. Community members can now easily provide Brighton Police Department with feedback through online forms, find information about obtaining public reports, view our weekly crime reports, and more.

"It's important that we communicate important crime and public safety information, while also providing resources that are available through the police department and our community partners,” said Police Chief Matt Domenico. “This site allows us to do that, and supports us in our mission of providing the highest quality of policing to the City of Brighton.”
