The rental period is 24 hours. Payment of the full $185 deposit is due at the time the facility is reserved. The balance of the rental fee is due at least 30 days in advance of the reservation.

Yes, Funshine is a State Licensed program and required by law to abide by all rules and regulations set forth by the state. Therefore, all paperwork must be verified and submitted before your child can participate or attend the camp or camp activities.
Yes, state licensing requires our staff to get cleared through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the FBI and the TRAILS system. In addition, the City of Brighton runs a separate background check before we hire any staff.

If you have paid your ticket off, but the DMV claims they have not received a clearance, then you may request for us to mail it again to the DMV or you may come to the clerk's window and request a certified copy to take to the DMV.
If you have a question about your case, you may direct it to the court clerks or raise the question at your appearance in court. The judge is not permitted by law to discuss the case prior to trial or a plea.
One, the Judge may have ordered a warrant to issue. There are two ways to deal with this. You may post your bond and receive a new court date. Or, you can come on one of our Walk-In Warrant hearing dates in order to take care of your case without having to post bond. See our calendar for the next Walk-In Warrant date.
Second, the Judge may have found you Guilty By Default. This means that your failing to pay prior to your court hearing and your subsequent failure to appear is interpreted by the Court as an admission of guilt to the charge on your summons. You must pay the fines plus any additional court costs ordered by the Court within 10 days of your court date in order to avoid an OJW hold being placed on your license. Alternatively, if you can show good cause as to why you failed to appear or pay prior, you may ask the court to set aside your default and grant you a new hearing date. (See FAQ for more information)
You may appear as a walk-in on a scheduled court date at 8:00 am or 1:00 pm to see the judge and quash your warrant. Your warrant will remain active until you appear.
If you have an outstanding warrant with the Brighton Municipal Court and would like to receive a new court date, you must post bond by cash or with a professional surety. There will be a $20.00 processing fee charged in addition to the bond amount, and you will be processed by the police department. You may post the bond with the court Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or the police department from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The police department is also available on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Credit cards are not accepted.

How do I plant a tree around utility lines? Overhead Lines Overhead utility lines are the easiest to see and probably the ones we take most for granted. Although these lines look harmless enough, they can be extremely dangerous. Planting tall growing trees under and near these lines will ultimately require your utility to prune them to maintain safe clearance from the wires. Trees which must be pruned away from power lines are under greater stress and more susceptible to insects and disease. Tall growing trees near overhead lines can cause service interruptions when tree contact wires. Proper selection and placement of trees in and around overhead utilities can eliminate potential public safety hazards, reduce expenses for utilities and their rate payers and improve the appearance of landscapes. Underground Lines. The biggest danger to underground lines occurs during planting. Before you plant, make sure that you are aware of the location of any underground utilities. To be certain that you do not accidentally dig into any lines and risk serious injury or a costly service interruption, call 1-800-922-1987 or visit Utility Notification Center of Colorado first. Never assume that these utility lines are buried deeper than you plan to dig. In some cases, lines are very close to the surface.
Some work that would not require a permit includes, but is not limited to: interior painting, decorating, carpet or flooring, cabinet work, exchanging light fixtures when wiring will not be altered, sheds less than 120 square feet.

Refund Policy for City of Brighton Recreation Center Programs & ActivitiesRefunds will be made according to the following guidelines:? No cash refunds. ? If class is canceled by Recreation Center: 100% refund? Refund requests must be received 5 business days prior to start of the program. ? Refunds of $25 or less will be issued as household credit only. If participant cancels: refund will be assessed a $5 service fee per activity unless refund is issued as a household credit.? Refund request after the program has started: NO REFUNDS, except due to illness.? Credit may be given if the participant is unable to participate due to illness. A doctor’s statement must be presented in order to receive credit due to illness.

We offer private and semi-private swim lessons for purchase in sets of 4 or 8 lessons. Private Swim Lessons – 4 lessons $100, 8 lessons $200 Semi-private Swim Lessons – 4 lessons $60, 8 lessons $120. It is well worth the money! Your child will advance in their swimming ability much faster with private lessons than with group lessons.

Packet pickup will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 13th and 14th, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Brighton Recreation Center. Packets WILL NOT contain your bib. Bibs will be available race day from 7 a.m.-8:29 a.m. Your bib is also your chip!
A pond serving a large commercial district will likely require more maintenance than one serving an established neighborhood, and a pond in a prominent location in the development will require more frequent collection of trash. Maintenance considerations for a wet pond will need to focus on floating litter, scum and algal blooms, shoreline erosion, possible unpleasant odors and mosquitoes, as well as more difficult sediment removal. Maintenance considerations for a dry pond will concentrate more on mowing to control the vegetation and frequent removal of the trash, debris and clippings that may clog the outlet/trash rack. Maintenance will always be needed; if maintenance is not done, or not done frequently enough, or properly, a false sense of security exists for the pond’s temporary storage abilities during a large storm event, and its pollutant removal abilities during a typical runoff event.
Routine maintenance includes: ?Inspections: Periodic scheduled inspections with a specified checklist, and inspections after major rainfall events, to check for obstructions/damage & to remove debris/ trash. ?Vegetation Management: Mowing on a regular basis to prevent erosion or aesthetic problems. Limited use of fertilizers and pesticides in and around the ponds to minimize entry into pond and subsequent downstream waters. ?Trash, debris and grass clippings Removal: Removal of any trash causing obstructions at the inlet, outlet, orifice or trash rack. ?Mechanical Equipment: Inspection & repair of any valves, pumps, fence gates, locks or mechanical components. ?Structural Component: Inspection of the outlet, inlet, orifice, trash rack & trickle cannel.
Non-routine maintenance includes:?Bank erosion/stabilization: It is critical to keep effective ground cover on all vegetated areas. All areas not vegetated should be re-vegetated and stabilized immediately ?Sediment removal: Every year, the accumulated sediment should be removed from the bottom of the outlet structure and the pond depths checked at several points. If the depth of the accumulated sediment is greater than 25% of the original design depth, sediment should be removed. ?Structural Repair/Replacement: Eventually the outlet structure or other structural components like the trickle channel or trash rack will need repair or replacement. ?Spill Clean-up: Removal of contaminated soil.

Our municipal code requires that we issue 12 bills per year. This is best accomplished with 4 billing routes as it takes a full week to process meter reads and issue a set of bills, so we process bills 48 weeks out of the year. This means that once a quarter there are no meter reads or bills processed as well. This takes into account holidays that our offices are closed, resulting in shorter work weeks which makes it extremely difficult to process bills. Due to these 12 bills per year, there are slightly longer and slightly shorter billing periods with a variance of as few as 3 days and as many as 10 days. This means some billing cycles/periods will be as short as 25 days and some cycles will be as long as 38 days.
The City of Brighton Utilities Customer Service division recently activated a new feature for how we process check payments which are mailed in. All payments are now going to a centralized PO Box in Denver for processing. This added feature, called LockBox, will increase processing time and allow for payments to be applied to utility accounts in an expedited fashion. Also, if you pay through your financial institution through online bill pay, the payment may now be processed electronically instead of generating a check that is ultimately sent via USPS to the City.
Several factors can contribute to an increase:
The City of Brighton Utilities Department’s residential sewer/wastewater rates include both variable and fixed charges. The variable charges are calculated using winter quarter averaging (WQA) to determine the volume charged on residential wastewater bills for the 12-month period beginning in May of each year. The amount of water a household uses in the winter months is totaled and divided by the three months collected. This results in an average wastewater usage for each residential property.
The winter months are used calculate the WQA because indoor water usage is usually at its lowest during these months. These charges are calculated from usage in November, December, and January, but reflected on the December, January, and February statements. The WQA is calculated each April and will be seen on the May statements. This charge will remain until recalculated and applied the following May.
The Storm Drainage Maintenance Fee is not a charge based on water consumption, but is a flat rate charge for all residential, commercial, industrial and institutional properties annexed to the City.
A grace period for utility bills has been implemented, which consists of 5 calendar days after the bill's due date. A late charge of $25 will be added to your account once the grace period has passed. Utility bills are due on Thursdays (specific dates depending on your route), and if payment is not received by close of business on the following Tuesday, your account will be subject to a late fee of $25. Door hangers will no longer be used. A courtesy letter is still generated and sent out to customers after late fees are incurred to advise if not paid in full, shutoffs can occur.
When you make a payment through your bank, they take the funds out of your account immediately, but the bank then processes a paper check and mails it to us. It can take up to 10 days for us to receive that payment.
If you pay your bill later than the "Due Date" on the bill, your payment will not show up on the next bill. Call us and check to make sure that we did actually receive your payment.
If your property is located within the City, storm water runoff from your property is being managed by some or all of the stormwater systems that are already in place. The runoff from your property (rain, snow, irrigation water, etc.) is transported to our waterways via the stormwater system. Storm inlets and ponds, as part of the stormwater system, are designed and built in low areas. If you follow the flow of water leaving your property, you will find a storm sewer inlet that is servicing your area. Further, the City is required to maintain the MS4 program (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System), and we do a diligent job in ensuring stormwater regulations and quality standards are fully met.

Yes, sign up for Budget Billing. This option aims to keep your bill uniform for every billing cycle for the coming year. It is offered to homeowners that have been current with payments on their monthly water bills for a period of 12 months. New homeowners may apply based on previous annual average consumption at their current address. Budget billing generally is re-adjusted every March and is calculated by using the previous 12-month average bill with a 10 percent increase added into the monthly totals and then reconciled with the 12th bill. Residents are encouraged to call to have their account added to the Budget Billing list. Accounts must be added by Dec. 31 and bills will be re-adjusted March of the following year
