  1. 2026 Traffic Box Mural Project

    The City of Brighton invites artists to embark on an exciting endeavor—transforming traffic signal boxes into captivating public art installations across the community. These creatively wrapped boxes aim to enhance neighborhood identity, turn ordinary spaces into creative landmarks, and encourage engaging conversations within our community.

    Six traffic signal boxes have been strategically selected for this project, ensuring a widespread and accessible showcase for the selected artworks.

  2. Eligibility
    • The call is open to individual artists, artist teams or community groups with a designated lead artist.
    • Professional and non-professional artists, including emerging artists and students may apply. 
    • Submissions will be divided into two categories for selection: 18 and older (adult) and 17 and under (youth). At least one traffic box will be exclusive to the youth category, however, more may be selected by the judging committee. 
    • All artists must reside in Colorado. 
    • City of Brighton employees are not eligible to apply.

    Please complete the following information and upload your artwork to be considered for the 2026 Traffic Box Art Project.

  5. Before Getting Started...*

    Prior to submitting your artwork, please familiarize yourself with the "Submission & Design Guidelines" available on the Project Website. Artwork submissions must adhere to the traffic box dimensions outlined in the guidelines, featuring a continuous design across four panels: 55.25H x 44.25W (front and back panels) and 55.75H x 28.5W (side panels).

  6. Cateogry*

    Please select the category for which you are submitting. 

  7. Please provide 2-3 sentences about yourself or your organization. 

  8. Submitting Your Art
    • Artwork can be created in any medium but, if selected, must be provided as high-resolution digital files suitable for large-format printing (PDF, TIFF, RAW, or Vector format preferred.) with a 200 – 300 dpi resolution
    • Artists may submit up to (3) designs for consideration.
    • Please submit a JPG or PNG for jurying purposes.
    • Please ensure your art adheres to the template size provided on the project website


  9. Affirm*

    Please affirm that the artwork you have uploaded meets the design template of a continuous design across four panels: 55.25H x 44.25W (front and back panels) and 55.75H x 28.5W (side panels). Submissions that are not representative of the traffic box dimensions will not be considered.
