In order to meet the transportation and air quality goals outlined in the Brighton 2024 Sustainability Plan, we are committed to improving our electric vehicle (EV) readiness throughout the community. Driving electric helps preserve the natural beauty of our community, and ensures we are taking part in a state-wide effort to build out our charging station infrastructure and harness technologies to make it easier for residents to participate. This page provides resources and opportunities for community engagement to keep residents informed.

United Power offers programs and rebates aimed at helping expand EV opportunities for their members and the thousands of daily commuters on highway corridors throughout our service territory. Their website allows you to explore incentives and tools that will simply the process of purchasing an electric vehicle, or installing an at-hone charging stations. Drive Electric Colorado
Drive Electric Colorado is an electric vehicle education initiative through the state of Colorado. They can assist with helping consumers navigate their electric vehicle journeys with information about options and the charging station network. They also provide educational resources that simplify available options for state and federal tax credits and financial incentives. Click the link above fore more information.
PlugShare Charging Station Map and Trip Planner
Need to charge your electric vehicle? Use PlugShare to find your next charging station! The website provides users with the most complete map of EV charging stations in the world. Additionally, PlugShare provides resources to help you plan your next trip with your electric vehicle. These tools assist with identifying customized charging locations along your route that allow you to search by range, amenities, wait times, and more.
Federal Programs and Rebates
There are several federal tax credits that are currently available to consumers. Federal tax credits up to $7,500 are available for eligible new electric vehicles, as well up to $4,000 for eligible used electric vehicles. Additionally, tax credits of up to $1,000 are available for home chargers and energy storage.

Charging Smart
The City of Brighton became the first municipality in Colorado to participate with Drive Clean Colorado in the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) Charging Smart program. This program provides technical assistance to help adopt and implement nationally recognized best practices to achieve their EV-readiness goals. Electric Vehicle 101
On May 18, 2024, Drive Electric Colorado and the City of Brighton's Sustainability Department worked together to host an Electric Vehicle 101 and showcase that was open to the public. This event provided education on the logistics of owning an electric vehicle, as well as financial incentives available to consumers.
Earth Day 2024
On April 22, 2024, the City of Brighton celebrated Earth Day outside of City Hall with some booths and activities for those that attended. United Power showcased their Ford F150 Lightning and discussed the programs and rebates currently being offered for EV consumers. The City's Sustainability Coordinator provided information on the benefits of electric vehicles.
City of Brighton Employee Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive
On March 21, 2024, Drive Clean Colorado and the City of Brighton Sustainability Department worked together to host an electric vehicle lunch-n-learn and ride and drive for city employees. The event had an impressive lineup of electric vehicles available for test drives, and representation from most city departments were in attendance.
