About the Contest

Each year, elementary school students in Brighton are invited to submit their best and most creative name ideas for the city’s snowplows. Winners will have an opportunity to take a photo with the snowplow they named and be recognized at a City Council. 

Additionally, the contest winners will have an opportunity to ride in the city’s annual Festival of Lights parade.

2023-2024 contest now open!


The City of Brighton has opened its third annual Name that Snowplow contest! Elementary school students who reside in Brighton are invited to submit their best and most creative name ideas for the city’s nine snowplows for the 2023-2024 snow season. 

Calendar

  • Contest Opens: October 4
  • Contest Deadline: Nov. 10
  • Judging: Week of Nov. 13
  • Notification: By Nov. 21
  • Council Meeting: Dec. 5
  • Festival of Lights: Dec. 9

Contest Rules:

  • Names submitted should be under 20 characters and no more than three words
  • Names should be appropriate and cannot contain profanity or inappropriate language
  • Names cannot be an individual’s name
  • If the same name is submitted by multiple students, the entry that came in first will be the one considered
  • Students must reside in Brighton
