When you miss a court date, there are two possible outcomes. One, the Judge may have ordered a warrant to issue. There are two ways to deal with this. You may post your bond and receive a new court date. Or, you can come on one of our Walk-In Warrant hearing dates in order to take care of your case without having to post bond. See our calendar for the next Walk-In Warrant date.
Second, the Judge may have found you Guilty By Default. This means that your failing to pay prior to your court hearing and your subsequent failure to appear is interpreted by the Court as an admission of guilt to the charge on your summons. You must pay the fines plus any additional court costs ordered by the Court within 10 days of your court date in order to avoid an OJW hold being placed on your license. Alternatively, if you can show good cause as to why you failed to appear or pay prior, you may ask the court to set aside your default and grant you a new hearing date. (See FAQ for more information)
