Brighton Police Department wants to reassure the community that students are safe, and no one was hurt today when a firearm was located inside Brighton High School. This is an ongoing investigation, and one juvenile is currently in custody.
On Oct. 19 around 12:30 p.m. school administration received a report of a student at school in possession of a firearm. Two Brighton Police School Resource Officers were at the school at the time of the report and they immediately contacted the suspect, who was found to have a firearm in his bag. The school was placed on a secure, and additional police officers quickly responded to assist with the investigation and assess any possible threats. Currently, Brighton Police Department is investigating the origins of the gun and the potential involvement of additional students.
