Brighton City Manager Michael Martinez is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin A. Young as the city’s new human resources director. As director, Young will oversee the city’s human resources functions, including employment opportunities, benefits and compensation, employee relations, risk management, and training.
Prior to joining the City of Brighton, Young worked for the University of Colorado, School of Public Health, as the director of human resources for 10 years. Previous to that, he served as the senior review board and human resources manager for the University of Colorado, Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board and as the chief of security and human resources coordinator for Qwest Communications. Young served in the U.S. Army for 20 years where he held various leadership positions including operations and medical officers, senior flight instructor, security advisor, and personnel manager. While in the Army, Young was awarded the Sergeant Audie Murphy Leadership Award for being in the top two- percent of Army leaders.
Young earned his bachelor’s degree from the American College of Pre-Hospital Medicine and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina. He is also a Senior Certified Professional from the Society of Human Resources Management and completed Senior Leadership Training at the University of Colorado.
