Following Brighton City Council’s December 21, 2021 vote to approve a $4,386,500 turf conversion project, construction on the project is scheduled to start in mid-January of 2022. This project will convert all four fields at the Brighton Sport Complex and all four fields at Pawlowski Fields to artificial turf. Between the two complexes, this project will save over 10 million gallons of water per year. The conversion will also increase usability, allowing teams to practice on the fields during the off-season as weather permits. 

As early as Jan. 17, Rocky Mountain Turf Solutions is expected to start the demolition of Fields 1 and 2 at the Brighton Sports Complex. During construction, two fields will remain open for programming at the Sports Complex. Once the conversion is complete there, the contractor will begin the turf conversion process at Pawlowski Fields. Rocky Mountain Turf Solutions will be installing AstroTurf at both complexes, with a projected 48-week timeline to convert both complexes.

The Brighton Recreation Center will launch its inaugural summer softball league on the new fields on May 3. Registration for teams is now open and teams have until April 13 to register for the extended 12 week season for $500 per team.
