Brighton City Council Ward 1 Member Tim Watts has been elected to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2022 Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) Federal Advocacy Committee. Council Member Watts was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities.

“I’m honored to have been elected to serve on this committee,” said Council Member Watts. “I’m glad I can continue to actively participate in the NLC and I look forward to putting the ideas and concerns of our great city front and center in the discussions we will have.”

As a member of NLC’s PSCP committee, Council Member Watts will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocating on behalf of America’s municipalities before Congress, with the administration and at home.

“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are a key tool for gathering insights directly from the communities that our members serve,” said NLC President Mayor Vince Williams. “I am excited to have Tim Watts serve on the PSCP Federal Advocacy Committee and look forward to working with him to fulfill the promise of America’s cities, towns and villages.”

Council Member Watts is the only Colorado representative on the committee and joins 32 other members and leadership. Watts had served on various other NLC committees, including the Small Cities Council, the Council on Youth, Education and Families, and Community and Economic Development. Additionally, Watts is currently being considered for First Tier Suburbs Council.
