Brighton City Manager Michael Martinez is pleased to announce the appointment of Catrina Asher as the city’s new finance director. As director, Asher will oversee the city’s finance department functions, from financial reporting, forecasting and modeling to grant and debt administration for all the city’s functions.
Prior to joining the City of Brighton, Asher worked as an accounting manager for the City of Lafayette, Colorado since October 2019. There, Asher supervised a finance team that was responsible for daily operations, including accounts payable, payroll, receivables and cash receipts, utility billing, capital assets and more. From August 2009 to September 2019, Asher worked in Boulder County as an assistant finance director, supervising a financial accounting team that oversaw financial reporting, grant management and reporting and capital asset management. Prior to that, Asher worked as a senior associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC where she led audit engagement teams on a variety of client audits from large, publicly-traded companies to smaller venture capital and technology firms.
Asher is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Public Finance Officer. Catrina earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fresno. Asher serves as 2021 president of the Colorado Government Finance Officers Association.
