This week, Brighton City Council passed a proclamation declaring December 10 as “Sock it To Em Workday.” The proclamation encourages Brighton residents to forego wearing their socks and instead donate socks for the homeless now through December 31.
Socks are the number one clothing need of the homeless as they wear out faster than any other article of clothing and are rarely donated. For this reason, the “Sock it To Em” campaign was started in Denver 2011 and has spread to cities throughout the United States.
To donate socks, visit the donation basket located in the reception area of Brighton City Hall.
The proclamation is sponsored by Metro Mayors.
