Blues Blast is coming back for the eighth year to The Armory Performing Arts Center on Saturday, July 10. Headlining the event this year will be Ruthie Foster, winner of The Blues Foundation's 'Koko Taylor Award' for Traditional Blues Female Artist. Supporting Ruthie Foster that night will be St. Louis blues legend Marquise Knox.
The day of blues music is free from noon - 4:45 p.m. Outdoor Armory concerts during that time include The Delta Sonics from 12 - 1 p.m., Eef and the Blues Express from 1:30 - 2:45 p.m., and Johnny O. Band from 3:15 - 4:45 p.m.
The ticketed indoor event begins at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m. Kicking off this portion of Blues Blast will be the Cass Clayton Band from 6 - 6:45 p.m., followed by Marquise Knox from 7:15 - 8:30 p.m. and then headliner Ruthie Foster from 9 - 10:15 p.m.
Tickets are on sale through the Armory’s website at brightonarmory.org. Admission ranges in price from $35 - $55.
Prior to the Blues Blast, a transportation art show will take place in the gallery of The Amory at 10 a.m. At that same time, a classic car show will take place in the parking lot. Food trucks and a cash bar will be available.
