On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Brighton Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of N. 5th Avenue reference a shooting. Officers found a shooting had occurred, and a male victim received minor injuries due to the shooting. The male victim left before the arrival of police and medical services.
Officers received information that the suspect vehicle was spotted at the Brentwood Townhomes in the 2100 block of Bridge Street. As officers checked the area for the suspect, a Code Red Alert was issued asking the residents to shelter in place. Detectives confirmed the suspect was not in the area and believed to be outside of the Brighton area. The shelter in place was lifted at approximately 10:00 p.m., and residents were notified with a Code Red Alert.
Detectives were also able to establish the involved parties knew each other, and BPD does not believe there is an active threat to the community. The names of the involved parties are being withheld at this time as the investigations continue.
