[ARCHIVED] City of Brighton to offer “Introduction to Basic Landscaping” classes

landscaping classes

Learn from the experts how to increase the chances for success when landscaping in Brighton through the City’s virtual Introduction to Basic Landscaping Classes at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 26 and Monday, May 3. Taught by the City’s Open Space and Forestry Department, learn which plants grow best in Brighton, proper soil and water requirements for xeriscaping (water-wise landscaping), and more. Presentations will be followed by a Q&A for the public to ask questions. Classes are free and will be conducted through Zoom (details below).

Both classes are for the novice gardener who is fairly new to horticulture and/or new to Colorado. The Denver Front Range can be a challenging environment for many common plants to thrive compared to other areas of the country. These introductory classes can be used as a guide for residents when landscaping in Brighton. Please note - vegetable and fruit gardening will not be covered in this series.

“With the growing season upon us, we want to be a resource for the community,” said Kyle Sylvester, City of Brighton Open Space Manager. “This is a great opportunity to help gardeners of all skill levels get a good foundation for planting success.”
