Brighton City Council Member Tim Watts has been recently appointed to the Small Cities Council (SCC) and Council on Youth Education and Families (YEF) for the National League of Cities (NLC). The Small Cities Council is made up of city officials with populations of 50,000 or less with the goal of sharing ideas and creative solutions to challenges affecting small cities. The Council on Youth, Education and Families consists of local elected officials, youth members and representatives from major national organizations concerned about children and families, with the goal of creating opportunities for each to interact and network with one another.

"These councils are wonderful opportunities to share what's working in Brighton and bring in new, innovative ideas from other cities," said Watts. "I look forward to meeting and networking with people who also want to strengthen and grow their communities."

These two appointments follow Watts' early January appointment to the National League of Cities 2021 Community & Economic Development Committee.
