Dementia Conversations (for Families/Caregivers)   (Mon. Dec 14 @ 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.)

When someone is showing signs of dementia, it’s time to talk.  Often, conversations with family members about changing behaviors can be challenging and uncomfortable.  This program provides tips for breaking the ice with your family so you can address some of the most common issues that are difficult to discuss: going to the doctor for a diagnosis or medical treatment, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal

Saving the Giants   (Tues. Dec 15 @ 2:30 p.m.)

Active Minds: Holiday Customs & Traditions    (Wed. Dec 16 @ 1:30 p.m.)

Many of you have called EVAC letting us know you just received your Senior Advisory Board Ballots in the mail.  In light of this, the Board has approved extending the ballot deadline.  Ballots will be counted on Mon. Change of Plans for Festival of Lights – Santa Claus Drive Through (Sat. Dec 19) 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there were only a limited number of participants able to build floats for Festival of Lights and therefore, not enough entries to host a drive-thru parade. The City is changing the event to a Santa Claus Drives Through Brighton for the public to enjoy on Saturday, Dec. 19.  Details about Santa’s route and drive times will be released in the coming days on the City’s websiteFacebook and Twitter.  The City appreciates the community’s understanding during these unprecedented times and hopes the public will enjoy Santa coming to them during his drive around Brighton.  If you have questions, please contact Susie O’Connor at soconnor@brightonco.gov.

 

Mobile Rapid COVID-19 Testing Site in Brighton - Extended to Sat. Dec 19

Due to demand for testing, the City of Brighton is extending its mobile COVID-19 rapid testing site at Riverdale Regional Park (9755 Henderson Road) through Sat. Dec 19. Testing days and hours will remain on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.   Due to capacity and safety concerns of the park, testing is limited to the first 200 vehicles each testing day. The no cost, drive-up COVID-19 rapid testing is available to residents who reside within the 80601, 80602, and 80603 zip codes or employees of a Brighton business currently working in the same zip codes.  Documentation is required (i.e. an ID card, utility bill, etc. for residents; a paycheck stub, work badge, etc. for employees).  People being tested must remain in their vehicles and masks are required.  No restrooms are available.  Test results will be delivered through text message or email.  For questions - call 303-655-2180.  

 

Level Red – Severe Risk Restrictions:  

Adams County has gone to Level Red – Severe Risk restrictions due to the rise in COVID cases.  With positive case levels rising at an alarming rate, Tri-County is asking everyone to limit activities with members outside of their immediate household and stay home as much as possible.  The City of Brighton is following the requirement for masks for all adults and children (10+) in indoor public spaces and outdoor spaces whenever six-foot distancing is not maintained. Senior Wellness Clinic

The Senior Wellness Clinic focuses on health promotion and disease prevention for seniors 55+.  Operated by Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), services include foot care, health checks, and blood pressure checks.  Fee for foot care is $30 ($40 for first visit) payable at the time of your appointment.  Foot care is Kaiser covered with pre-approval.  Appointments are being held at the Brighton Recreation Center, 555 N. 11th Ave. We are scheduling for January 2021, call EVAC 303-655-2075 for appointment.

VOA Meal Delivery

Volunteers of America are offering senior citizens a box of five frozen meals delivered to your home.  You must be 60 or older and be a resident of Brighton.  The suggested contribution for the meals is $2.50 meal/$12.50 per box, although the ability to pay is not the deciding factor if you are eligible.  Boxes are delivered on Thursdays.  Call Eagle View at 303-655-2075 and leave your name and phone number.
