Effective January 2021, the mill levy for the Brighton East Farms and Homestead Metropolitan District has been significantly reduced. The tax rates will be reduced from 86.025 mills in 2019 to 64.662 mills in 2021. This reduction was made possible as a result of hard work and cooperation on the part of City Council members, city staff and the Metropolitan District. Because of the oil and gas pads located in these areas producing enough income, the Metro District was able to reduce the tax rates for existing and future residents. This positively affects the reduction in taxes for several neighborhoods in Adams and Weld counties that are within the City of Brighton, including Brighton East Farms 1, 2 and 3 and the Homestead subdivision.
“The reduction for these specific mill levies is great news for our growing city,” said Jane Bais DiSessa, City Manager of Brighton. “This will result in a decrease in property taxes to residents.”
