On Tuesday, Oct. 6, City Council voted to approve a resolution to award a $584,660 contract to Asphalt Specialties Company, Inc. for the Medical Center Drive Improvement Project. The project will complete the roadway segment along Medical Center Dr. that currently does not have the top lift and a segment that needs to be stabilized along the northern segment. Upon completion, the roadway will have a new top lift, adjusted structures, patching and concrete repairs. In total, two companies bid for the project, with Asphalt Specialties Company, Inc. being the lower of the two bids.
The project is estimated to take about 40 days, with a planned start date of the middle to end of October. The benefits will include road safety and preservation, completing unfinished pavement and financial savings from reimbursement agreements.
Public information notices and signs will go up to inform residents of street closures.
