Brighton police detectives have arrested 30-year-old Robert Joseph Slater Sheetz of Brighton on a felony charge of Child Abuse causing serious bodily injury. 

Sheetz was arrested after police were called to Children’s Hospital on a child abuse report involving his infant child. The alleged assault occurred at the Sheetz family home in Brighton in the early morning hours of Sept. 18, 2020. 

The Brighton Police Department will present the felony child abuse charge to the district attorney’s office for formal filing later in the week. The charges against Sheetz are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty.
