The Brighton Recreation Center has released its fall 2020 programming that’ll be open for registration on Monday, Sept. 14. From family fitness and weight training to swimming and preparing to run a 5K, you can find the wide variety of course offerings listed below and online at https://www.brightonco.gov/1517/Fall-Programming-2020. STEAM Classes (ages 8 - 12)
Have you wondered why the leaning tower of Pisa leans and why it has not fallen? Learn the basics of building design all while having fun!
When: Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Weight Room 101 (ages 12 - 18)
Learn the proper techniques about weight lifting, safety, weight room etiquette and how to create your own customized workout. Once completed the session, you’ll receive your weight room card.
When: Sept. 21 - Oct. 12 (Session 1): 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Oct. 26 - Nov. 16. (Session 2): 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Family Fitness Classes (ages 8+)
When: Mondays at 9 a.m. and Wednesdays at 5 p.m.
Couch to 5K (ages 12+)
Interested in running in a 5k? Don’t know where to start? In this four-week session, you’ll learn tips and tricks and training programs in running your first 5K!
When: Sept. 21 - Oct. 12 (Session 1): 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Oct. 26 - Nov. 16 (Session 2): 11:00 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Private/Semi-Private Swim Lessons
These lessons give participants individualized attention. We have a “pool” of enthusiastic instructors looking to help you or your child achieve your goals! Private and semi-private lessons are a great resource for swimmers of all ages and all abilities, and are scheduled at the convenience of you and your instructor.

Cost: Private Lessons - $120 for a 4-pack, $240 for an 8-pack
Semi-Private* Lessons: $72 (per participant) for a 4-pack, $144 (per participant) for an 8-pack
*Semi-private requests must have their own additional participants (2-3 participants total); The Rec Center does not pair participant requests. Participants must be at similar skill levels.
Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Lessons (ages 6 months - 6 years)
Through the ISR Self-Rescue™ program, your child can learn specialized survival skills and build a foundation for a lifelong enjoyment of the water. ISR lessons are one-on-one and are customized to the developmental level and readiness of each child. Children between six and 12 months of age learn to hold their breath underwater, roll onto their back and float unassisted. Children one/walking to six years of age learn to hold their breath underwater, swim with their head down, roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, then flip over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool, crawl out or be rescued by an adult.
When: Mondays through Fridays for up to six weeks (scheduled at your convenience with your chosen instructor)

Youth Endurance Swim (ages 8 - 16)
This class is for kids who can swim freestyle and backstroke the full length of the pool independently, and have been introduced to the other two competitive strokes - breaststroke and butterfly. A coach on deck will kick your child’s swim skills into high gear! They will work with your kids on pushing their distance swim capabilities, along with providing stroke refinement that will make their stroke more efficient. This is a great small-group alternative to CARA Swim Team.
When: Two-week sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays - Session A from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m., Session B from 5:45 - 6:45 p.m.
Cost: $32 per session
