Walk Elmwood Cemetery to learn about Brighton's past

cemetery-walk-news-flash

Elmwood Cemetery will host its fifth annual Cemetery Walk on Saturday, Oct. 3. The event will give residents a peek into the lives of Brighton’s historical leaders, farmers, pioneers, and soldiers buried in the cemetery.

Volunteer guides will be dressed in period attire to talk about their ancestors and their connection to Brighton, followed by a Q&A. Out of COVID-19-related health and safety precautions, the guides will speak from a stationary podium in front of visitors who will be seated in marked squares spaced out for social distancing. Two individuals will be allowed in each square. According to state guidelines, attendees over 10 years old will be required to wear a face covering (except for those who can’t medically tolerate a face covering). Sanitizer will be made available.

Reservations are required. There are three time slots: 1:00 p.m., 2:15 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. A cleaning will be done after each presentation.

The graves of the historical figures will be marked with a U.S. flag if attendees would like to pay their respects.
