The City of Brighton is set to host two of its popular trash and e-recycling events this fall. The City of Brighton’s Trash Bash drop-off program for residents to dispose large items is on track to take place in September the following two weekends: Friday, Sept. 11 and Saturday, Sept. 12 and Fri., Sept. 18 and Sat., Sept. 19.
Also on Sept. 12, the city will host its Eco Event for electronic device disposal at City Hall, 500 S. 4th Ave. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Acceptable items include game consoles, electrical equipment, electric cords, keyboards, computer towers, laptops, cell phones, and other electrical devices. Paper Shredding will be offered for free. Disposal of TVs/CRT Monitors under 22-inches will be $20 each, TVs over 22-inches will cost $40, and console/projection TVs will be $70 each. No light bulbs will be accepted.
In addition, the city will provide large item pick-up service Sept. 9, 10, 16 and 17 for the elderly or those with special needs. To request a pick-up, please call 303-655-2087.
The original dates for Trash Bash in June had to be postponed due to COVID-19-related health and safety concerns.
For Trash Bash, residents can bring their large items on the specified drop-off dates to the Brighton WasteWater Treatment Facility at 325 North Kuner Road from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Small loose items must be containerized and total weight must be relative to the type of container.
Acceptable items at Trash Bash include:
· Appliances (no refrigerators or freezers)
· Carpet (must be cut up)
· Lawn/yard equipment
· Branches (cut less than five feet and bundled securely)
· Nail-free lumber less than eight feet in length
This service is for residents who live within the city limits of Brighton only. Brighton addresses do not necessarily mean you are Brighton resident. A suitable proof of residency (utility or phone bill) is required as well as identification, such as a driver’s license. No commercial or industrial facilities will be allowed. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted to help defray from the cost of the service. Tires will be accepted for a fee of $5 each. No oversized tires are allowed.
Items not allowed include: Televisions, household trash, commercial waste, concrete/home improvement project debris, grass clippings, computers, air conditioners, freezers, microwaves, refrigerators, office electrical equipment, car bodies, smoke detectors, all liquids, paint, motor oil, pesticides or chemicals as well as any material that is toxic, corrosive or explosive, and no sealed containers with unknown contents. The City of Brighton and Service Provider Reserve the Right to Reject Any Item Deemed Unacceptable.
