[ARCHIVED] Bike to Work Day Breakfast Burrito Bike-In set for June 24

BIKE TO WORK DAY

On June 24 between 6:30-8:30 a.m., Bike Brighton will host the Bike to Work Day Breakfast Burrito Bike-In. The first 50 people to bike to the Bike Brighton tent at Emi Chikuma Splash Pad and Plaza (1750 Skeel Street) will receive a free breakfast burrito from Santiago’s Mexican Restaurant courtesy of Bike Brighton.  In addition, city parks, open space, and trail maps will be handed out for free. Cyclists are encouraged to wear face coverings while waiting, but do not need to wear them while riding. Helmets are recommended.

Due to COVID-19, the statewide annual Bike to Work Day event originally set for June 24 has been postponed to September. Bike Brighton will be participating in this fall event, but has decided to host the Bike to Work Day Burrito Breakfast Bike-In on the original date. Throughout the pandemic, bicycling has remained one of activities that has allowed for social distancing and one that Bike Brighton continues to encourage the public to do.

In late November 2019, the City of Brighton became recognized nationally as a Bicycle Friendly Community at the honorable mention level through the League of American Bicyclists (LAB).  The next level of bicycling status with LAB is the bronze level followed by silver, gold, platinum, and diamond.  Having community participation in a Bike to Work Day event is one of the events that LAB looks favorably upon when reapplying for a higher status.

If you have any questions, please contact Mark Heidt, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Development for the Parks and Recreation Department and the City’s Bicycle Coordinator, at mheidt@brightonco.gov or 303-655-2170.
