City of Brighton announces new Safer Activities Grant

The City of Brighton encourages local small businesses, non-profits, and community groups to apply for the new Safer Activities Grant. Funding for the grant comes from the federal CARES Act and provides up to $5,000 in assistance for personal protective equipment, retrofitting for facilities for health and safety measures, and other equipment that’s needed for safe operation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Small Business Grant Guidelines - To qualify, all of the following criteria must be met:

  • 50 total employees or less

  • Business must be a licensed registered Brighton business in good standing located within Brighton city limits

  • Business must be current on city sales tax returns or on an active payment plan

  • Must have a valid Employer Identification Number (EIN)

  • Business must be registered with the State of Colorado

  • Must demonstrate need due to the COVID-19 pandemic

501(c)(3) Non-profit Grant Guidelines - To qualify, all of the following criteria must be met:

  • Must be a 501(c)(3) non-profit in good standing with state and federal regulations

  • Must submit a 501(c)(3) letter with the application

  • Must have a physical address located within City boundaries or be able to demonstrate that they provide substantial services to City of Brighton Residents

  • Must have a valid Employer Identification Number (EIN)

  • Must be registered with the State of Colorado

  • Must demonstrate need due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Community Group Grant Guidelines (i.e. youth programs, churches, and senior programs):

  • Must be registered with the State of Colorado

  • Must submit proof of registration

  • Must have a physical address located within City boundaries or be able to demonstrate that they provide substantial services to City of Brighton residents

  • Must have a valid Employer Identification Number (EIN)

  • Must demonstrate need due to the COVID-19 pandemic

This is a reimbursement grant. Eligible costs must be incurred between March 1 and July 31 of 2020, and reflect those costs as described in the application proposal. Successful applicants will also be required to legally comply with the reporting requirement. Documented evidence of grant funding being used in a manner outlined in the application proposal is due to the City no later than Aug. 14, 2020 to receive reimbursement. This evidence can be in the form of, but not limited to, receipts of work, receipts of purchase, photographs, or on-site compliance checks.

The deadline to submit an application is July 31, 2020.
