Brighton Police have arrested a Brighton man suspected of damaging local property in 32 acts of graffiti since April of this year.
Police have charged 25-year-old Antonio Keith with 32 counts of Application of Graffiti for numerous incidents of property damage involving a ‘tag’ (something like a graffiti signature) which appears to read “MTA”. The crimes have occurred on both private and public property in central and northern Brighton since April of this year.
The arrest follows a lengthy investigation by Officer Katie Arehart, a member of the multi-disciplinary graffiti team formed by the police department in 2009 due to a notable increase in reports of graffiti vandalism. Since its formation, the team has used a combination of surveillance cameras, information sharing, and a graffiti tip-line to combat the problem and reduce the damage suffered by property owners from this form of vandalism.
Citizens who have information about graffiti cases in Brighton are encouraged to share that information with police by calling the Graffiti Tip-Line at (303) 655-2097.
