Brighton City Council approved a resolution tonight certifying the ballot content for a special mail ballot runoff election for Ward 2 to be held Tuesday, May 26.
Since no candidate for Council Member for Ward 2 received a majority of the votes cast during the April 28 Special Election, per Article III, Section 3.6 of the city charter, a runoff election is required for the two candidates with the highest number of votes.
A runoff election will be held between candidates Ann Taddeo and Donald D.R. Dill.
Ballots will be mailed out no later than May 11 and may be dropped off at the 24-hour ballot drop-box located in front of City Hall, 500 S. 4th Ave. up until 7 p.m. on May 26. On Election Day, voters may also drop off their ballot at the Brighton Recreation Center, 555 N. 11th Ave., between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
On Dec. 17, 2019, Ward 2 Council Member Greg Mills was sworn in as Mayor, creating a vacancy in Ward 2. The elected candidate will fill the vacated seat of the unexpired term ending January 2022.
