This youth-focused event put on by the Office of Youth Services and will be on May 5 and 6 at the Waymire Dome at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton, CO 80601.
This two-day youth conference for Colorado students ages 10-19 seeks to empower youth, build confidence, teach leadership, and inspire young leaders to use their voices to impact their communities and policy governance.
“We have sold out the Armory Performing Arts Center for 3 years in a row, and each year the waitlist grows longer and longer,” Youth Services Coordinator Sydney McKinney said. “This year we will be able to accommodate an additional 200 students, bringing our event total to 500.”
Also new at the Image Summit this year, the conference will be split into two tracks: one track is for 5th-8th graders, and one is for 9th-12th graders. Each group will attend their own rotation of 9 breakout sessions (total of 18) which were designed to be developmentally appropriate for their age.
Members of the Brighton Youth Commission and Youth Corps assisted in the interview process of potential breakout presenters to help select this year’s lineup of breakout presenters. Attendees will hear from impressive guest speakers Juan Bendana and Dr. Laymon Hicks and will have the opportunity to attend breakout sessions, speak to elected officials from across the state, and mingle with like-minded youth, while celebrating themselves and their diversity.
This will be the sixth year Brighton has hosted this one-of-a-kind youth summit and we are pleased to welcome back Blake Fly to emcee the event.
The cost to attend is $25. For more information or to register, visit the Image Summit event webpage at www.brightonimagesummit.org.
