The City of Brighton Parks and Open Space division and consultant Norris Design will host a second neighborhood public input meeting from 6-8 p.m. June 26 regarding Ken Mitchell Park and Open Space master plan. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to hear the results from the input provided at the first neighborhood meeting on May 29. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 500 S. 4th Ave.
Ken Mitchell Park and Open Space is a 648-acre contiguous area that currently includes Ken Mitchell Park, water storage lakes, active gravel mining, trails and wildlife habitat. The goal of the project and the master plan update is to provide a strong vision and plan to move forward for short and long-term improvements to the area. The improvements will include both active and passive park uses while restoring and protecting wildlife habitat along the South Platte River, the lake banks, and in wetland areas.
