This is an accelerated version of our lifeguard training. Lifeguard
candidates must be able to pass all swim prerequisites to remain
enrolled in the course (300 yard swim, two minutes treading
water, no hands & 10lbs brick retrieval). Swim prerequisites will
be performed the Saturday before the first day the class meets.
The “deeplink” will be given to those that pass the prerequisites
and will be able to register online with the American Red Cross
deeplink that Saturday. Candidates that would like to interview
with the Brighton Aquatics Department may have the opportunity
to have the rec registration fee waived.

Note: You must be able to complete the prerequisite skills on the first
day to continue. Swim lessons and endurance building are not provided
during the Lifeguard Training course and should be addressed
before the first day of class. Prerequisites completed on first day of
class: You MUST be able to perform these skills on day one.
• 300 yard swim, retrieve 10 pound brick from nine ft. using a feet
first surface dive and swim it back 20 yards to the wall and tread
water for two minutes with use of legs only.
