Energy Conservation

The City of Brighton is committed to finding ways to reduce and diversify our energy usage. This ensures that we continue to practice responsible financial stewardship in the long term. This page provides residents with helpful resources and outlines upcoming energy conservation projects across the community.  

Current Projects

Streetlight LED Conversion 

In 2024, the City of Brighton will begin work to convert the streetlights along our major arterial roads to LED bulbs. This project is anticipated to lower energy usage, reduce maintenance costs, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and provide more reliable and safe lighting for the community.

This project will be broken down into two phases, with phase one encompassing all major arterial roads spanning all four wards, and phase two focusing on the decorative streetlights in the downtown area including along 4th Ave, Main St, and portions of Bridge St. For more details about the roads that will be included in each phase please refer to the map below.
