The City of Brighton is pitching a tent for families this summer. Families are encouraged to load up their camping gear and head to Brighton Park at the Brighton Recreational Center, 555 North 11th Avenue, at 4 p.m. for the inaugural Camp Out event on Saturday, August 4.
Camp Out has room for total of 50 tents. The city will provide 10 tents for those families who either want to try something new over the summer or don’t have a tent of their own. You will be required to bring your own pillow, blankets and company to fill the tents.
Camp Out will be an overnight event filled with outdoor fun and nature themed activities. For dinner, families can choose to bring their own meal or buy dinner from one of the food trucks that will be on-site. The evening continues with a movie under the stars and will end with s’mores around the campfire before settling down in your tent for the night. When you wake up, there will be a light breakfast provided for you to enjoy.
There is a $5 registration fee, per family, for this event. That fee will secure your location and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Make sure and bring the following items to make for an enjoyable evening:
- Bug spray
- Extra layers for changing weather
- Fishing license (16 and older)
