Denver man arrested for kidnapping and domestic violence

A Denver man is in custody in Brighton pending charges including Kidnapping, Domestic Violence, and Vehicular Eluding following an incident that began at a Brighton WalMart.

Police were dispatched to the store, located at 60 W. Bromley Lane in Brighton, on reports of a domestic violence in-progress. As officers arrived, they observed the suspect vehicle, a silver-colored Saturn SUV, leaving the parking lot with parties inside who matched the description of those involved in the disturbance. The driver of the suspect SUV failed to stop after officers activated their emergency lights and sirens; two police vehicles were damaged when the suspect crashed his vehicle into them during the course of the ensuing pursuit, which lasted approximately 13 minutes over a distance of about 6 miles. The suspect abandoned the SUV in the area of 106th Way and Revere St. and fled on foot, but was located and taken into custody within 10 minutes.

27-year-old Emmanuel Gonzales, of Denver, is in custody on charges of Kidnapping, Domestic Violence, and Vehicular Eluding. These charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The Brighton Police Department would like to acknowledge the assistance of officers from the Commerce City Police Department and deputies from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in apprehending Gonzalez.
