The City of Brighton Office of Emergency Management will host its annual Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class beginning in September in correlation with emergency preparedness month.
This is approximately 32 hours of hands-on training for individuals to learn more in-depth skills in order to be self-sufficient prior to, during, and after a disaster occurs. Individuals will learn skills in team building, disaster psychology, terrorism, fire safety, disaster medical, light search and rescue. The eight-week session will end with a simulated disaster exercise so participants can put their newly acquired skills to work.
Classes will be held on Thursday nights from 6:15- 9:15 p.m. The classes will be free to attend.
