Police prepare for back-to-school traffic

As Brighton schools gear-up for students to return beginning Aug. 16, Brighton police will be renewing their annual education and enforcement efforts to help ease drivers and residents back into the habits of increased safety and awareness the school-year requires.

This year, school start times will range from 7 - 8:30 a.m., with release times between 2:30 and 4:15 p.m., so officers will be concentrating their efforts around Brighton schools during these times. As in the previous years, during the first week of the school year officers will primarily be reminding drivers they stop of the need to be more careful and to keep our children safe, issuing citations only for more serious traffic violations.

The Brighton Police Department would like to thank our community for its continued support and cooperation as we work to protect our most precious asset – our kids.
