The Brighton Economic Development Corporation (Brighton EDC) announces they will once again host the Brighton Business Innovation Pitch Competition in October 2017. The competition is open to Brighton residents, entrepreneurs, small businesses and startups located in Brighton or willing to locate in Brighton.
This year’s grand prize for the competition is $15,000 with a second place prize of $4,000 and a third place prize of $1,000.
The goal of the competition is to find a promising startup or small business and help take it to the next level with a cash infusion. The prize money can be used by the winner for any business needs including expansion costs, technology or equipment purchase, staffing, etc.
Business plan applications will be accepted beginning Monday, July 31, 2017. Applications will be accepted until 50 are received or until Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, whichever occurs first. Interested parties can apply online at http://www.brightonedc.org/Pitch-Competition.
The Brighton EDC will review all applications and select up to 10 entries for formal interviews. The top three will advance to the competition Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at the Brighton Armory Performing Arts Center. Once selected, the three finalists will be required to attend a “Pitch Academy” in preparation for the competition.
Funding for the competition is made possible through a Brighton Lodging Tax Committee grant.
